Our Lady of Guadalupe
Patroness of the Americas and the Unborn
About Juan Diego
First apparition
Second apparition
Third apparition
Juan Diego missed his appointment with Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 11 because he was looking after his uncle Juan Bernardino who was gravely ill. On December 12, he was hurrying to bring a priest to administer the sacraments to his uncle who was dying. He took a different route in order to avoid another encounter with the Blessed Mother, embarrassed that he had missed the appointment on December 11 and not wanting to be delayed in seeking spiritual help for his uncle.
Fourth apparition
Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to him nonetheless, the fourth time, assuring him that his uncle was already cured and instructing him to gather flowers on the top of the hill as a sign to take to the Bishop. Juan Diego trusted Our Lady and found on the top of the frozen and barren hill the most beautiful flowers. He gathered them and Our Blessed Mother arranged them in his cloak, or tilma as it was called. Juan Diego then hurried to the Bishop’s house where this fourth apparition reached its fullness. When he opened his tilma to show the flowers to the Bishop, Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared depicted on the tilma. The Bishop immediately understood the truth of Juan Diego’s message from the Blessed Mother and hastened to have the chapel built on Tepeyac Hill. The fifth apparition took place in the little home in which Juan Diego was living with his uncle. Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Bernardino and cured him of his fatal illness.

Prayer that Pope Francis will use to consecrate Russia and Ukraine to Mary
To your Immaculate Heart we solemnly entrust and consecrate ourselves, the Church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine.
The Vatican has released the prayer that Pope Francis will pray on Friday, March 25, to consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in a ceremony at 5 pm, Rome time.
The prayer speaks of various of the devotions of Our Lady, including, for example, her message at Guadalupe, and her advocation as Undoer of Knots. It calls on her with various of her titles from the Litany of Loreto.
Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Basilica of Saint
Peter
25 March 2022
O Mary, Mother of God
and our Mother, in this time of trial we turn to you. As our Mother, you love
us and know us: no concern of our hearts is hidden from you. Mother of mercy,
how often we have experienced your watchful care and your peaceful presence!
You never cease to guide us to Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Yet we have strayed
from that path of peace. We have forgotten the lesson learned from the
tragedies of the last century, the sacrifice of the millions who fell in two
world wars. We have disregarded the commitments we made as a community of
nations. We have betrayed peoples’ dreams of peace and the hopes of the young.
We grew sick with greed, we thought only of our own nations and their
interests, we grew indifferent and caught up in our selfish needs and concerns.
We chose to ignore God, to be satisfied with our illusions, to grow arrogant
and aggressive, to suppress innocent lives and to stockpile weapons. We stopped
being our neighbor’s keepers and stewards of our common home. We have ravaged
the garden of the earth with war and by our sins we have broken the heart of
our heavenly Father, who desires us to be brothers and sisters. We grew
indifferent to everyone and everything except ourselves. Now with shame we cry
out: Forgive us, Lord!
Holy Mother, amid the
misery of our sinfulness, amid our struggles and weaknesses, amid the mystery
of iniquity that is evil and war, you remind us that God never abandons us, but
continues to look upon us with love, ever ready to forgive us and raise us up
to new life. He has given you to us and made your Immaculate Heart a refuge for
the Church and for all humanity. By God’s gracious will, you are ever with us;
even in the most troubled moments of our history, you are there to guide us
with tender love.
At this dark hour, help us and
grant us your comfort.
We now turn to you and
knock at the door of your heart. We are your beloved children. In every age you
make yourself known to us, calling us to conversion. At this dark hour, help us
and grant us your comfort. Say to us once more: “Am I not here, I who am your
Mother?” You are able to untie the knots of our hearts and of our times. In you
we place our trust. We are confident that, especially in moments of trial, you
will not be deaf to our supplication and will come to our aid.
That is what you did
at Cana in Galilee, when you interceded with Jesus and he worked the first of
his signs. To preserve the joy of the wedding feast, you said to him: “They
have no wine” (Jn 2:3). Now, O Mother, repeat those words and that prayer, for
in our own day we have run out of the wine of hope, joy has fled, fraternity
has faded. We have forgotten our humanity and squandered the gift of peace. We
opened our hearts to violence and destructiveness. How greatly we need your
maternal help!
Therefore, O Mother,
hear our prayer.
Star of the Sea, do not let us be shipwrecked in the tempest of war.
Ark of the New Covenant, inspire projects and paths of reconciliation.
Queen of Heaven, restore God’s peace to the world.
Eliminate hatred and the thirst for revenge, and teach us forgiveness.
Free us from war, protect our world from the menace of nuclear weapons.
Queen of the Rosary, make us realize our need to pray and to love.
Queen of the Human Family, show people the path of fraternity.
Queen of Peace, obtain peace for our world.
May the tears you shed for us
make this valley parched by our hatred blossom anew.
O Mother, may your
sorrowful plea stir our hardened hearts. May the tears you shed for us make
this valley parched by our hatred blossom anew. Amid the thunder of weapons,
may your prayer turn our thoughts to peace. May your maternal touch soothe
those who suffer and flee from the rain of bombs. May your motherly embrace
comfort those forced to leave their homes and their native land. May your
Sorrowful Heart move us to compassion and inspire us to open our doors and to
care for our brothers and sisters who are injured and cast aside.
Holy Mother of God, as
you stood beneath the cross, Jesus, seeing the disciple at your side, said:
“Behold your son” (Jn 19:26). In this way he entrusted each of us to you. To
the disciple, and to each of us, he said: “Behold, your Mother” (v. 27). Mother
Mary, we now desire to welcome you into our lives and our history. At this
hour, a weary and distraught humanity stands with you beneath the cross,
needing to entrust itself to you and, through you, to consecrate itself to
Christ. The people of Ukraine and Russia, who venerate you with great love, now
turn to you, even as your heart beats with compassion for them and for all
those peoples decimated by war, hunger, injustice and poverty.
Therefore, Mother of
God and our Mother, to your Immaculate Heart we solemnly entrust and consecrate
ourselves, the Church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine. Accept
this act that we carry out with confidence and love. Grant that war may end and
peace spread throughout the world. The “Fiat” that arose from your heart opened
the doors of history to the Prince of Peace. We trust that, through your heart,
peace will dawn once more. To you we consecrate the future of the whole human
family, the needs and expectations of every people, the anxieties and hopes of
the world.
Through your intercession, may God’s mercy be
poured out on the earth and the gentle rhythm of peace return to mark our days.
Our Lady of the “Fiat,” on whom the Holy Spirit descended, restore among us the
harmony that comes from God. May you, our “living fountain of hope,” water the
dryness of our hearts. In your womb Jesus took flesh; help us to foster the
growth of communion. You once trod the streets of our world; lead us now on the
paths of peace. Amen.

St. Raphael the Archangel
Feastday: September 29
Patron: of travelers, the blind, and bodily ills
Disguised as a human in the Book of Tobit, Raphael refers to himself as "Azarias the son of the great Ananias" and travels alongside Tobit's son, Tobiah. Once Raphael returns from his journey with Tobiah, he declares to Tobit that he was sent by the Lord to heal his blindness and deliver Sarah, Tobiah's future wife, from the demon Asmodeus. It is then that his true healing powers are revealed and he makes himself known as "the angel Raphael, one of the seven, who stand before the Lord" Tobit 12:15.
The demon Asmodeus killed every man Sarah married on the night of the wedding, before the marriage could be consummated. Raphael guided Tobiah and taught him how to safely enter the marriage with Sarah.
Raphael is credited with driving the evil spirit from Sarah and restoring Tobit's vision, allowing him to see the light of Heaven and for receiving all good things through his intercession.

Story of the Miraculous Medal
Designed and revealed by Mary, the Medal is unique among all medals.
It was almost midnight when St. Catherine Labouré was awakened by a soft voice, whispering, “Sister, sister, sister.” Mysterious events led her to the chapel where the Blessed Mother appeared and sat down near the altar. St. Catherine knelt at her feet, rested her hands in Mary’s lap, looked into her eyes, and had a heart-to-heart conversation with her. Later, St. Catherine would refer to that night as “the sweetest moment of my
With approval of the Catholic Church, the first medals were made in 1832 and distributed in Paris. Only ten of the original medals are known to exist, and one of them is housed at the Miraculous Medal Shrine.
Almost immediately, the blessings that Mary promised showered down on those who wore her medal, and soon all of France was clamoring for what the people referred to as the “Miraculous Medal.” Use of the Medal spread from country to country, and, at the time of St. Catherine’s death in 1876, more than a billion medals had been made. Today, the Medal is still drawing down from God blessings for body and soul.
Symbolism of the Miraculous Medal
The Miraculous Medal was originally called the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, but, because of the numerous accounts of miracles by those who wore it, people began to call it the Miraculous Medal, and the name stuck. The Medal is a visual reminder of our salvation through Jesus Christ.
FRONT SIDE:
The front side of the Miraculous Medal depicts Mary Immaculate, her hands open, full of light. St. Catherine Labouré saw Our Lady appear like this and heard her say, “Have a medal made according to this model. Everyone who wears it around their neck will receive great graces.” Mary stands upon the globe as the Queen of Heaven and Earth. Her feet crush the serpent to proclaim that Satan and all his followers are helpless before her (Gn. 3:15). The year 1830 on the Miraculous Medal is the year the Blessed Mother gave the design of the Miraculous Medal to St. Catherine. The reference to “Mary conceived without sin” supports the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary — referring to Mary being sinless, “full of grace,” and “blessed among women” (Lk. 1:28). The dogma of the Immaculate Conception was proclaimed 24 years later in 1854, and then confirmed when Mary appeared to St. Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes, France, in 1858.
BACK SIDE:
On the reverse side, the Cross and the letter M symbolize the close relationship of Mary to the suffering, passion, and death of her Son. The cross can symbolize Christ and our redemption, with the bar under the cross a sign of the earth and the Altar, for it is on the Altar at Mass that the Sacrifice of Calvary continues to be present in the world today. The M signifies “Mary” and “Mother.” The interweaving of Mary’s initial and the cross shows Mary’s close involvement with Jesus and our world. In this, we see Mary’s part in our salvation and her role as Mother of the Church.
Beneath the Cross, bar, and the M are two hearts side‐by‐side: the Sacred Heart of Jesus crowned with thorns and the Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced by a sword. The two hearts represent the love of Jesus and Mary for us.
The twelve stars signify the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve apostles, who represent the entire Church as it surrounds Mary. They also recall the vision of Saint John, writer of the Book of Revelation (12:1), in which “a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars.”

History of Mary Undoer of Knots
It is with extreme joy that we bring to you the real history of Mary Undoer of Knots.
How this devotion started?
To show us the mission granted to the Virgin Mary by Her Son, an unknown artist
painted Mary Undoer of Knots with great grace. Since 1700, his painting has
been venerated in the Church of St. Peter in Perlack, Germany. It was
originally inspired by a meditation of Saint Irenaeus (Bishop of Lyon and
martyred in 202) based on the parallel made by Saint Paul between Adam and
Christ. Saint Irenaeus, in turn, made a comparison between Eve and Mary,
saying:
"Eve, by her disobedience, tied the knot of disgrace
for the human race; whereas Mary, by her obedience, undid it".
But what are these knots?
They are the problems and struggles we face for which we do
not see any solution.
Knots of discord in your family, lack of understanding between parents and
children, disrespect, violence, the knots of deep hurts between husband and
wife, the absence of peace and joy at home. They are also the knots of anguish
and despair of separated couples, the dissolution of the family, the knots of a
drug addict son or daughter, sick or separated from home or God, knots of
alcoholism, the practice of abortion, depression, unemployment, fear,
solitude…Ah, the knots of our life! How they suffocate the soul, beat us down
and betray the heart’s joy and separate us from God.
The devotion to Mary Undoer of Knots is not new. The
devotion is more than 300 years old. However, it is not based on an apparition
of the Virgin Mary to a person, or persons, as in Lourdes or Fatima, but rather
it is a revered devotion as many others in the Catholic Church, despite Virgin
Mary is only one.
The devotion to Mary Undoer of Knots is becoming more and
more known in many different countries, and the Novena has been printed in 19
languages, as well as in Braille. In the last 4 years, the Sanctuary of Mary
Undoer of Knots has welcomed more than 600,000 pilgrims from all over the world.
At Mass, there is a multitude of people: the young, the
elderly, rich and poor, all asking for help from Our Lady to simplify their
lives.
Day after day, more and more Christians kneel to pray to Her
as soon as they meet the Mother of the Fair Love.
Many families have become reconciled! Many diseases have been healed! Many
spouses have returned to the Church! Many jobs have been given! Many
conversions have taken place! Many Catholics have been on their knees praying
and giving thanks for graces received from our sweet Mother.
We are living in difficult times where the problems, the
knots, the temptations, the lack of peace and the evils are all around us. Like
a roaring lion your adversary, the devil, prowls around, looking for someone to
devour.
(1 Peter 5,8)
For that reason, Mary Who undoes the knots, Who was chosen by God to crush the
evil with Her feet, comes to us to reveal Herself. She comes to provide jobs,
good health, to reconcile families, because She wants to undo the knots of our
sins which dominate our lives, so that - as sons of the King - we can receive
the promises reserved for us from eternity. She comes with promises of victory,
peace, blessings and reconciliation.
Then, free from our knots – filled with
happiness, we can be a testimony of the Divine Power in this world, like
pieces of God’s heart or small bottles of perfume exhaling mercy and love to
our neighbor. Like ambassador of Jesus Christ and the Virgin of the fair love,
we can rescue those who cry without any consolation, those who are lonely, tied
with knots, who have no God, no Father nor Mother.
Mother of the Rising Sun, Immaculate, our Advocate, Helper
in moments of affliction, Mother of God and made by Him our Mother, this is how
Mary, Undoer of Knots is presented. Above all, She comes as the Queen of Mercy,
the one who knows all about us, who has compassion for us and hurries to rescue
us, praying for each one of us to Her beloved Jesus.
Is it possible that the Lord does not answer Her?
May Mary Undoer of Knots bless you today and forever. Amen!
Prayer to Our Lady Untier/Undoer of Knots
Pope
Francis’ Prayer to Mary Undoer of Knots
Holy Mary, full of God’s presence during the day of your
life, you accepted with full humility the Father’s will, and the devil was
never capable of tying you up with his confusion.
Once with your Son you interceded for our difficulties, and
full of kindness and patience, you gave us example of how to untie the knots in
our life. By remaining forever Our Mother, you put in order and make more clear
the ties that link us to the Lord.
Holy Mother, Mother of God and our Mother, to you who untie with a motherly heart the knots of our life, we pray to you to receive in your hands (the name of the person), and to free him/her of the knots and confusion with which our enemy attacks.
Through your grace, your intercession and your example
deliver us from all evil, Our Lady, and untie the knots that prevent us from
being united with God, so that we, free from sin and error, may find Him in all
things, may have our hearts placed in Him, and may serve Him always in our
brothers and sisters. Amen.
Prayer
for Personal Troubles
Mother of fair love, I look to you.
Take into your hands the ribbon of my life,
and see the snarl of knots that keeps me bound
to sin, anxiety, and hopelessness.
I beg you, Mother, by your powerful intercession
and long fingers of love and grace,
undo the knots in my heart and in my life.
Free me to love as Christ loves.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for us.
Prayer
for the Strengthening of Marriages
Blessed Mother, take into your hands
the knots that affect married couples,
and with your long fingers of love and grace
undo these knots for the glory of God.
Visit married couples with your grace;
renew their sacramental covenant,
increase God's love in them,
and strengthen their bond of peace
so that, with their children,
they may always rejoice in the gift of your blessing.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for us.
